King Charles III removes VAT exemption on private school fees

King Charles III announced on Wednesday measures to remove the “exemption from VAT” for private school fees.

The King’s remarks came during his Majesty’s address of the State Opening of Parliament.

The King stated that the revenue generated from this change will fund the hiring of 6,500 new teachers across the UK.

In addition, a new organisation called Skills England will be established, aimed at fostering collaboration among government, businesses, unions, and training providers. The King emphasised that this initiative will centre on creating partnerships with employers.

Furthermore, the apprenticeship levy—a tax imposed on employers—is set to undergo reform to enhance its effectiveness in supporting vocational training.
