Manger of Banking Operations Department at Central Bank of Kuwait ( CBK ) Abdullah Al-Shatti denied rumors that were published in local press about the circulation of a large quantity of counterfeited 20-KD bank notes.
Al-Shatti told KUNA, on Saturday, that pumping the 20-KD bank notes into the local banks did not stop as the rumors claimed. CBK is checking and scrutinizing all bill notes in local banks to put a stop to such counterfeiting and forgery.
“Local banks have clear instructions, from CBK , on how to deal with such situations,” Al-Shatti stressed. Specialized security bodies are ready to act once a forgery is detected, he further added.
Al-Shatti reassured that the Kuwaiti bank notes enjoy a high level of security that could not be counterfeited. He added that most fake money are easily detectable by sight or touch.
