Los Angeles may ban large gatherings the rest of the year
Los Angeles County hits another record day of deaths of at least 42
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said on Wednesday large gathering such as concerts and sporting events are likely not to resume until 2021.
At least 42 people died from coronavirus in Los Angeles County on Wednesday, according to health officials, in a second consecutive day of biggest one-day spikes.
L.A. County Department of Public Health said the death toll from the pandemic had reached 403 by midday in the city.
“It’s difficult to imagine us getting together in the thousands anytime soon, so I think we should be prepared for that this year,” Mayor Garcetti said in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
“Until there’s either a vaccine, some sort of pharmaceutical intervention, or herd immunity, the science is the science. He added that public health officials made clear it has “miles and miles to walk before we can be back in those environments.” he added.
