Mercedes-Benz to manufacture electronic vehicles in Egypt
Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) revealed on Tuesday about Mercedes-Benz’s plan to localise electronic vehicle (EV) manufacturing in Egypt. This comes during a meeting held between Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea and Gerd Bitterlich, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Egypt.
Bitterlich said: “The company has also increased the number of its agents in the Egyptian market to reach 5 authorized distributors, including 12 sales and after-sales showrooms across the country, in addition to the local manufacture of GLE and GLS SUVs, which reflects the international company’s interest in expanding its business in the Egyptian market during the current stage.”
The plan is targeting Egypt’s expansion to develop its automotive industry in the comping period, Minister Gamea said.
Egypt will be the promising market for Mercedes-Benz, Bitterlich commented.
Gamea explained that the ministry is eager to encourage foreign investments operating in Egypt and the growth of its business in light of the favourable business environment that Egypt currently enjoys.
