Mexico’s inflation eases to 4.99% in August
Mexico’s general inflation eased to 4.99 per cent in August 2024, down from a 14-month high of 5.57 per cent in July, according to data released by the statistics institute INEGI on Monday.
The National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) increased by 0.01 per cent in August compared to July. The annual inflation was 4.64 per cent.
The underlying price index rose 0.22 per cent monthly and 4.00 per cent annually.
Non-core prices decreased by 0.70 per cent monthly but increased by 8.03 per cent annually. Within the non-core index, agricultural product prices fell by 2.08 per cent, while energy and government-authorized tariffs rose by 0.48 per cent.
