Misr Life Insurance wins Egyptian pilgrims’ insurance policy mandate – sources
Egyptian state-run Misr Life Insurance won a policy bid launched by the Interior Ministry to insure Egyptian pilgrims for the current year, according to sources.
The tender involves cover for hajj pilgrim delegation consisting of the winners of the government’s draw, in addition to others in hajj trips organised by social associations and tourism agencies.
With total sum insured of around 7.8 billion Egyptian pounds ($469.3 million), the policy will cover risks of death and total or permanent partial disability for around 78,138 Egyptian pilgrims, the sources said on Thursday.
“Mohandes Insurance and Delta Life Assurance were also competing to win the insurance policy,” the sources told Amwal Al Ghad, saying Delta covered the pilgrimage travel insurance over the past two years.
The policy also encompasses coverage of risks of death and total disability cases with total sums insured of 100,000 pounds for the current year, up from 75,000 pounds last year, they added.
