Nepal’s electric car imports surge 78% in 2 months

Nepal’s electric cars imports has surged by over 78 per cent during the first two months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year, starting in mid-July. The growing popularity of electric vehicles in the country has driven this significant increase.

In mid-September, Nepal imported 1,602 electric cars, up from 898 in the same period last year. Of these, 1,125 were from China.

Nepal has witnessed a rapid increase in the use of electric vehicles in recent years. In 2023-24, a total of 11,701 electric cars were imported, with 8,065 originating from China.
