New sugar project enhances Egypt’s agriculture

The Egyptian Countryside Development Company has signed a landmark agreement with Nile Sugar to develop a 14,000-feddan area in the Extension of West El Minya Area, as part of Egypt’s 1.5 Million-Feddan Project. This initiative aims to cultivate sugar beet for white sugar production and establish related agricultural and livestock facilities, supporting Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

The project aligns with Egypt’s goals to enhance sugar cultivation and reduce dependency on imports. Moreover, it will commence with engineering and well-drilling works, with full reclamation and cultivation expected to be completed within three years.

Using advanced agricultural machinery, the project will not only boost agricultural land but also create numerous job opportunities. Furthermore, it will prioritise local market needs before exporting any surplus, contributing significantly to Egypt’s food security.
