Niger to construct first-ever sports arena for $100mln

Niger plans to construct a $100 million Sports Arena to be constructed between Abuja and Suleija, in an effort to promote sporting activities, its governor Mohammed Umaru Bago announced on Saturday.

The facility is part of his commitment to sports development by providing all requirements needed to boost the sector, Bago said during a visit by a delegation led by the President of the Federation of Public Service Games Aluko Amaebi.

Bago described sports as “an important element in the well-being of people” and offered some of the sporting facilities at the Government House to be used for the games, its Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim, said.
