India will bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Saturday at the opening ceremony of the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Mumbai.
“We are willing to host the 2029 Youth Olympics, I am sure India will get constant support from IOC,” Modi said in the presence of IOC president Thomas Bach. He added “I am very confident that India will consistently get the support of the IOC.”
2036 is the earliest available slot to host the Summer Olympic Games as the next edition will be held in Paris in 2024 followed by Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032.
