Russian stocks decline on Monday

Russia’s stock market opened lower on Monday morning, with the MOEX Index declining by 0.3 per cent to 2,819.72 points and the RTS Index down by 0.3 per cent to 999.11 points.

Meanwhile, the yuan gained against the rouble. At 10:00 am Moscow time, the yuan was trading at 12.088 roubles, up by 2 kopecks from the previous close. By 10:15 am, the yuan had strengthened further, reaching 12.107 rubles, marking an increase of 3.9 kopecks.

These market movements come amid ongoing currency exchange operations conducted by the Bank of Russia, which are scheduled from August 7 to September 5, 2024.
