South Korea’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 114.54 in August 2024, reflecting an increase of 0.4 per cent from July and a 2.0 per cent rise compared to the same month in 2023, according to a latest government data on Tuesday.
The core CPI, excluding the volatile food and energy sectors, was recorded at 111.40 in August 2024. This index saw a modest increase of 0.1 per cent from the preceding month and rose 2.1 per cent from August 2023.
The index for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 1.2 per cent, clothing and footwear 0.1 per cent, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels 0.8 per cent, transport 0.2 per cent, and restaurants and hotels 0.3 per cent.
