South Korea’s online shopping sector continued to expand in August 2024, with the total transaction value reaching 19.5580 trillion won, a 1.9 per cent increase compared to the same month last year, as per an official report on Wednesday.
Mobile shopping remained the primary driver of growth, accounting for 14.9817 trillion won in August 2024. This marked a substantial 5.4 per cent increase from the previous year.
Mobile transactions now constitute 76.6 per cent of all online shopping activity, up from 74.1 per cent in August 2023.
Despite the overall growth, both online and mobile shopping transactions saw slight declines in August 2024 compared to July 2024. Online transactions dropped by 1.8 per cent, and mobile transactions decreased by 0.8 per cent.
