The Egyptian Salafist group al-Da’wa al-Salafiya (Salafi Preaching Movement) will submit an appeal against the sukuk law (Islamic bonds), which was passed by Shura Council yesterday, to the Supreme Constitutional Court, said Abdel Moneim El Shahat official spokesman of the group.
The sukuk law may endanger the state’s sovereign assets as well as violates the article no. 4 of the Constitution which stipulates that Al-Azhar’s opinion “shall be taken in matters related to Islamic sharia”.
El Shahat called on the President Mohamed Morsi not to approve the law because it violates the constitution which states that the opinion of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar must be sought for all affairs related to Islamic Sharia Law.
