Saudi utility developer ACWA Power plans to complete the construction of three solar power plants near Aswan in Egypt next February.
Located at the Benban complex in Upper Egypt’s Aswan, the three plants are with capacity of 120 MW. They are part of the second round of the Feed-in-Tariff programme in Benban that was launched by the Egyptian government in September 2016.
The plants will cost around $180 million, Hassan Amin, ACWA Power Egypt Country Director, told Amwal Al Ghad on Wednesday.
The Feed-in Tariff programme aims to use private-sector capital and expertise to help achieve its goal of providing 20 percent of its electricity from renewable resources by 2022.
