An Egyptian military leader on Sunday revealed that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) expected clashes with the elected-president.
Maj. Gen. Mamdouh Shaheen, a member of Egypt’s SCAF, on phone call to the Egyptian satellite channel “Al Tahrir”, said we expected clash between the elected-president, the army and judiciary; although the clash came about earlier than expected.
The SCAF held an urgent meeting to discuss the repercussions of the decree issued by President Mohamed Morsi to withdraw the decision No. 350 of dissolving the parliament. It was decided that the elected parliament would exercise its powers, pursuant to Article 33 of the constitutional declaration.
