Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil met Saturday with a mission from Singaporean consultancy company Surbana Jurong (SJ) to discuss establishing industrial zones in Egypt.
During the meeting, both sides talked over the potential of executing and establishing industrial zones including all services and utilities.
This step comes among ministry’s plan to provide 60 million square meters of industrial lands by 2020.
Surbana Jurong provides one-stop consultancy solutions across the entire value chain of urbanisation, industrialisation and infrastructure domains.
It offers architecture, engineering, project and construction management, urban planning, infrastructure and SMART City services.
About ministry’s plan for the industrial development, Minister Qabil noted that the ministry targets raising industrial sector growth rate by 8 percent in 2020 and attracting industrial investments worth 100 billion pounds opposed to the current volume, i.e. 45 billion pounds.
The plan also aims at enhancing local industry as well as raising Egyptian products competiveness to enter new markets, Qabil clarified.
On other side, SJ Regional Director for Africa emphasised on company’s keenness to invest in Egypt as pursuant to the visions of both Egyptian and Singaporean leaders to boost joint investment cooperation.
