Sisi holds Egyptian Economic Conference today
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi opened the Egyptian Economic Conference 2022 (EEC 2022) in the New Administrative Capital east of Cairo on Sunday, aiming to discuss national economic condition and prospects.
Senior government officials, high-profile economists, intellectuals, thinkers, businessmen, as well as representatives of more than 80 political parties and parliament members are taking part in the three-day event.
The EEC 2022 was called for by President al-Sisi in early September when he called the government to hold an economic conference to discuss the present economic conditions to boost all sectors of the domestic economy.
The conference seeks to draw up an economic roadmap for Egypt and reach a common agenda on the country’s economic priorities for the upcoming stage.
It will include three tracks; macroeconomic policies, widening the scope of private sector contribution to the national economy, and drawing up a roadmap for the Egyptian economic priorities in the coming stage, according to a statement by the Cabinet on Saturday.
It also indicated that the conference would focus on the government’s state ownership policy document, which aims to raise the private sector’s participation in the national economy to over 65 percent.
The conference will also witness roundtable sessions with the participation of government representatives, including the prime minister, as well as intellectuals, economists, and representatives of political parties.
