Sisi, Toyota’s head in talks over expanding investments in Egypt

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed on Sunday with the head of Japan’s Toyota ways of expanding the company’s investments in Egypt.

Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said the head of Toyota company told the President that the Japanese business sector sees promising investment opportunities in Egypt within the coming period, especially in the auto manufacturing and oil exploration domains.

The Japanese official lauded the unprecedented support of the Egyptian government and El-Sisi to Japanese investors and their keenness on facilitating their work in Egypt and ironing out hurdles facing them, Radi said.

Toyota, which has been operating in Egypt for several decades, sees Egypt as its gateway to Africa, the spokesman said.

The head of the Japanese company said he will visit Egypt this year, and that he will hold another meeting with Sisi on the sidelines of Japan-Africa summit hosted by Japan in August.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait and Trade and Industry Minister Amr Nassar.
