Sri Lanka’s total exports for August 2024 reached $1.4 billion, representing a 4.67 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.
According to the Export Development Board (EDB), merchandise exports in August 2024 amounted to $1.1 billion, a 4.18 per cent increase over the previous year.
This growth was primarily driven by increased earnings from apparel and textiles, tea, rubber-based products, coconut-based products, spices, and concentrates.
Apparel and textiles exports surpassed the $500 million mark for the first time in two years in August 2024.
Services exports for August 2024 were estimated at $318.77 million, showing a 6.49 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
