Suez Canal Hits New Vessels and Cargo Record – Official

Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal has set a record on Friday on the number of vessels and cargo passing through it, canal authority chairman Mohab Mamish announced.

According to Mamish, the total of 71 vessels carrying 4.6 million tonnes of cargo crossed the canal on Friday.

The waterway, the fastest shipping route between Europe and Asia, is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign currency.
