Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) attained returns estimated at 3.8 billion Egyptian pounds (US$427.9 million) in July 2016 opposed to 3.4 billion pounds in July 2015.
In its bulletin, state’s statistics body CAPMAS stated that SCA’s total returns recorded 24.6 billion pounds during January-July 2016.
The report showed that the number of oil carriers that passed through the Suez Canal dropped to 333 in July 2016 compared to 352 carriers a year earlier.
The number of other ships that passed through the Canal also fell to 1087 in July 2016 from 1106 ships in July 2015, the report stated.
