Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) announced on Thursday the crossing of 83 vessels from both directions without waiting during the day with a total net cargo estimated at 4.8 million tons.
The authority said that the new Suez Canal project contributed to increasing the average daily transit of vessels transiting the canal, which reached 72 vessels during the current year.
SCA also added that work is under way to finalise the southern sector of the canal, which contributes to increasing the canal’s capacity by about six additional vessels and increasing 28 percent navigational safety rates.
