Suez SA has secured a £1 billion ($1.3 billion) extension of its waste-recycling contract with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, extending the agreement through 2034. The deal includes upgrading an energy-from-waste facility and expanding recycling capabilities for households.
This contract underscores Suez’s strategic push to grow internationally, capitalising on government policies aimed at enhancing waste recycling and reducing landfill use.
Suez, which generated €8.9 billion ($9.6 billion) in sales last year, aims to boost its UK revenue from approximately €1 billion in 2023 by 50 per cent by 2030 through both organic growth and acquisitions.
The company is also targeting expansion in Southeast Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Central Europe, focusing on projects like water desalination, recycling electric car batteries, and waste-to-energy plants.
