SUNRISE, Minor International sign deal to develop 50 new properties in Egypt – Cabinet
Egypt’s SUNRISE Resorts & Cruises signed a strategic partnership with Thai hotel giant Minor International to develop and manage 50 new hotels nationwide, as Cairo seeks to expand tourism capacity through deeper public-private collaboration, the Cabinet said Wednesday.
The deal was signed in Cairo in the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy. It will also involve Egypt’s Madaar Developments, which will host the first four projects at resorts in Ras El Hekma, Ain Sokhna, and New Zayed.
Madbouly said the government was working with domestic and international investors to increase the number of hotel rooms, part of wider efforts to strengthen Egypt’s appeal as a global tourism destination.
Minor International, one of the world’s largest hospitality groups and owner of brands such as Anantara, operates more than 640 hotels in 59 countries. SUNRISE, one of Egypt’s leading luxury operators, manages more than 25 hotels and seven Nile cruise vessels and has expanded into Greece, Morocco and Zanzibar.
The partnership underscores Cairo’s push to attract international investors into tourism and real estate as part of its wider economic strategy, amid plans to generate hard currency and create new jobs.
