Thailand seeks entry into BRICS
Thailand targets BRICS membership this month to enhance its global standing alongside Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, potentially becoming Southeast Asia’s first member, as reported by the Nikkei Asia on Wednesday.
If approved, Thailand would be the first Southeast Asian member, solidifying its leadership among developing nations.
The BRICS bloc is seen as a potential counterbalance to the dominance of developed economies like the US and Europe, with China and Russia playing key roles in its expansion.
Other countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Ethiopia, and Egypt, joined the bloc in January.
