The Egyptian–Dutch Panel on Water Management convene in the Netherlands

In the framework of ‘Water Mondiaal’, the Egyptian–Dutch Panel on Water Management convenes in The Hague from 13 to 15 June.

The Panel Meeting provides a platform for dialogue between Egypt and the Netherlands on the most pertinent issues of water management. The Panel is expected to suggest and initiate actions in the identified areas of cooperation, which are: more crop per drop, coastal zone management, water and sanitation and wastewater management and reuse. It also aims to give guidance on the need and format for a ‘delta vision’ for Egypt.

Opportunities and modalities of cooperation between the Egyptian and Dutch governments, knowledge institutes and businesses will be identified and translated into concrete actions. In this regard, members of the Panel will meet with a group of Dutch businesses and knowledge institutes to identify opportunities for future cooperation in the framework of ‘Water Mondiaal’.

The chairs of the bilateral Water Panel are Dr. Hesham Kandil, Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation (represented by the President of the National Water Research Centre), and Mr. Simon Smits, Director General at EL&I of the Netherlands.

The Panel includes in its membership high level representatives of Egypt’s Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. It also includes representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Economy, Agriculture and Innovation, Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, as well as the Netherlands Water Partnership.
