Top 50 Women Forum celebrates female leaders in Egypt’s new government overhaul

Top 50 Women Forum on Thursday extends its heartfelt congratulations to the female ministers, who joined the Egyptian new Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, celebrating another milestone for women leadership in the country.

Four powerhouse women are taking the helm of key ministries; Rania Al-Mashat as Minister for Planning, Economic Development and International Co-operation; Yasmine Fouad as Minister of Environment; Maya Morsy as Minister of Social Solidarity; and Manal Awad Mikhail as Minister of Local Development.

The Forum also extends its special congratulations to former Minister of Planning Hala Al-Saeed, who is now taking her extensive experience to a new role as Advisor to the President for Economic Affairs.

This surge in female leadership is not just a win for women, it is a win for Egypt. The Forum expressed its sincere gratitude for the “great trust” placed in these women by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Prime Minister Madbouly. The new appointments are vital for achieving Egypt’s sustainable development goals, highlighting the growing success and leadership of Egyptian women across various fields in recent years, the Forum added in a statement.

As this great milestone extends beyond the Cabinet, the Forum also offers its sincere congratulations to Jacqueline Ezzat, who has been named as the new Governor of Beheira, and for numerous women that are taking on deputy minister and deputy governor positions.

Among these exceptional women leaderships are Sabah Mashaly, the new Deputy Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Margaret Saroufim, the new Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity; Abla Al-Alfy, the new Deputy Minister of Health; and Yomna Elbahar, the new Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.

Moreover, the list of the new deputy governors include:

  • Lobna AbdelAziz, Deputy Governor of Sharkia;
  • Magda Hanna Bebawy, Deputy Governor of the Red Sea;
  • Inas Samir Hafez, Deputy Governor of South Sinai;

  • Amira Salah Abdel-Hakim, Deputy Governor of Alexandria;
  • Shaimaa Mohamed El-Seddiq, Deputy Governor of Damietta

“The government overhaul, which includes appointment of new governors, demonstrates the authorities’ trust in Egyptian women’s leadership abilities to excel in various vital roles,” Dina Abdel Fattah, Founder and Chairperson of Top 50 Women Forum, said.

“The chosen female leaders are highly competent and experienced in public work, and this aligns with Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s new tenure, which encompasses several promising comprehensive development schemes in the making.”
