Toyota Motor Corp. announced on Wednesday that customers in some countries in Asia and Oceania may have been facing data leaks.
According to the company, customers have probably been subjected to data leaks from October 2016 to May 2023 due to a setting error in the cloud environment.
The company also said that customer information that may have been leaked includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and vehicle identification.
Toyota said that this issue was discovered after the launch of a broad investigation.
“As we believe that this incident was also caused by insufficient dissemination and enforcement of data handling rules … we have implemented a system to monitor cloud configurations,” the company said.
