Egypt’s Ministry of Local Development has completed over 5,130 projects in Sohag and Qena governorates in the last six years, with an investments of 22.25 billion Egyptian pound, according to a Cabinet statement.
These projects were aligned with the Upper Egypt Local Development Programme (UELDP), improving infrastructure and governance to benefit the citizens in the area, said the Minister Manal Awad.
Awad emphasised that the programme had a major impact on reforming local administration policies and mechanisms, not just in the targeted governorates but nationwide.
This has resulted in improved local administration practices and the successful implementation of administrative, economic, and financial decentralisation at the local level.
