URGENT: Egypt’s PM unveils EGP 40 billion social protection package

Egypt will roll out a new social protection package worth more than 40 billion Egyptian pounds ($858.1 million), Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced in a press conference on Sunday, following directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The programme, aimed at supporting low- and middle-income households, is scheduled for implementation before the end of the current fiscal year. Madbouly said the package is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen social safety nets and provide direct assistance to vulnerable groups across the country.
