Egypt to disburse cash aid to EGP 15mn families Ahead of Ramadan, Eid: PM

Egypt will provide cash support to 15 million households in two instalments, one ahead of Ramadan and another before Eid al-Fitr, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced on Sunday.

The programme will cover 5 million families under the Takaful and Karama Programme and an additional 10 million low-income households, targeting the country’s most vulnerable citizens.

The cash transfers form part of a broader social protection package, directed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, valued at more than 40 billion Egyptian pounds, set to be implemented before the end of the current fiscal year.

The initiative is intended to reinforce social safety nets and provide relief to families ahead of the holy month and national celebrations.
