URGENT: Euro area inflation eases to 1.8% in September ’24

Euro area annual inflation fell to 1.8 per cent in September 2024, down from 2.2 per cent in August, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat on Tuesday.

Among the key components, the services sector reported the highest annual rate at 4.0 per cent, slightly decreasing from 4.1 per cent in August. Food, alcohol, and tobacco prices rose to 2.4 per cent, up from 2.3 per cent the previous month.

Non-energy industrial goods remained stable at 0.4 per cent, while energy prices experienced a notable drop, with inflation recorded at -6.0 per cent, compared to -3.0 per cent in August.
