US retail sales tick up in August
US retail and food service sales rose slightly in August, increasing by 0.1 per cent from the previous month, according to latest data released by the Commerce Department on Tuesday. This marks a 2.1 per cent year-over-year increase.
Retail trade sales experienced a modest 0.1 per cent rise, while non-store retailers experienced a more substantial 7.8 per cent growth. Food services and drinking places also recorded a 2.7 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
