Vodafone Egypt CEO welcomes Telecom Egypt as new rival

Egypt’s telecom sector can absorb one more player, said Stefano Gastaut, CEO of Vodafone Egypt commenting on Telecom Egypt joining the mobile operator market.

In a press conference held by Vodafone Egypt on Tuesday, Gastaut added that having four mobile operators instead of three will create a competitive environment for the four companies in favor of the final recipient of the services in return.

In Ireland for instance, there are four actual mobile operators and 20 virtual ones serving only four million people unlike a country of huge population like Egypt, Gastaut explained.

Vodafone Egypt is more likely to make future investments to operate the new 4G services in the most efficient way, Gastaut stated.
