X leadership shake-up as CEO faces Musk’s sales push

The CEO of the X platform, Linda Yaccarino, has made significant changes to her leadership team amid mounting pressure from owner Elon Musk to increase sales and reduce expenses.

This month, Yaccarino dismissed Joe Benarroch, her chief business operations and communications officer, a move confirmed by three sources familiar with the situation.

Benarroch, who joined X in June 2023 from Comcast’s NBCUniversal, where he managed communication strategy for the advertising and partnerships division, was Yaccarino’s close associate there as well.

Following his departure, Nick Pickles, the head of global government affairs at X, will assume Benarroch’s duties. His role will now expand to include overseeing all global communications.

This leadership shake-up reflects the increasing tensions between Musk and Yaccarino as she grapples with stabilising X’s financial situation.

In a further move to address these challenges, Musk brought in Steve Davis, the CEO of his Boring Company and a longtime ally, in April to review X’s financial and performance management. X did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment on these developments.
