Zohr gas field expansion on track, PM says

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly reaffirmed on Thursday Egypt’s confidence in the Zohr gas field’s future, dismissing speculation about Eni’s commitment to its operations. During his visit to the Saipem 10000 drilling rig, the prime minister emphasised that its arrival in January was on schedule, reinforcing the company’s dedication to the agreed drilling plans.

Speaking at a press conference, Prime Minister Madbouly announced that production at Zohr will ramp up in the coming weeks, with further increases expected soon. He also highlighted Eni’s expansion plans, which include intensified drilling efforts over the next two years, signaling potential new discoveries and greater gas output. The company’s leadership, he noted, has reiterated these commitments both on-site and during recent discussions at the Davos Forum.
