Franchise projects in Egypt worth $7.6bn

The total investments of franchise projects in Egypt are estimated at around 60 billion Egyptian pounds (US$7.6 billion).

Hatem Zaki -executive board member of the Egyptian Franchise Development Association (EFDA)- stated that 42 percent of the franchise brands are local and 8 percent of the franchise brands are international.

He made these remarks during his speech in the International Conference for Retail and Franchise- Retail Plus Egypt on Monday.

The number of franchise brands in the market are 600 mostly in food industries sector, the official added.

He clarified that franchise projects in Egypt provide around 800,000 direct job opportunities, i.e. 43,000 shops.

Zaki noted that the 14th Middle East and North Africa International Franchise Exhibition is set to be held from the 18th – 21st May, 2016.
