Government imposes taxes on mobile phone users

The Egyptian Government has decided to impose an annual stamp tax on mobile phone users in Egypt

for the first time, valued LE six pounds and 10 piaster, at the rate of 51 piaster monthly, starting next March.

The three working companies in this field; Mobinil, Vodafone and Etisalat have sent short text messages to customers informing them about the new imposed tax, the thing that caused resentment amongst users.

It is worth mentioning that mobile phone users in Egypt have reached the number of 83 million users, according to indicators submitted by the ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
