103 new coronavirus cases, 19 deaths reported in Egypt on Sunday

Egypt reported 103 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total case tally to 97,340, according to a health ministry statement. That is up from the 89 Covid-19 cases reported the day before.

The death toll recorded 5,262 with 19 new fatalities recorded on Sunday, the ministry added.

809 patients had been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 65,927, the ministry said.

Egypt has been recording daily infections tallies of less than a thousand new cases consistently since 9 July.

The daily toll dropped below the 200-case threshold from 2 to 21 August. The lowest daily tally of infections in four months was recorded on Saturday, with only 89 new cases.
