Mohamed Amin, the head of the International Tourism Sector, at Egypt Tourism Authority (ETA), expected that 20.000 tourists will watch the sun illuminates the face of King Ramsses II in Abu Simble temple, October 22nd.
The authority, through its exterior tourism offices, is promoting the event; particularly it is one of the important tourism occasions in Egypt. It also will ask a band to celebrate the sunbeam on the face of King Ramsses II.
Amin said Abu Simble temple is more distinguished because the sunbeam enters to the holy of the holiest and reaches the four statues; enlightening this deep place.
This unique phenomenon happens twice a year, on February 22nd, the date of birth of King Ramsses II to announce the start of harvest season, while the second time is on October 22nd, to announce the start of Winter season.
