24 dead, 50 injured in Ramses Railway Station train fire

A fire broke out at Ramses Railway Station also called Misr Station, the main railway station of Cairo, after a train collided with a building, killing 24 people and wounding 50, a source said.

The Egyptian National Railways ordered the evacuation of the buildings of the Egyptian station in full while the train traffic stopped until the fire is controlled.

A source said that the accident caused parts of one of the buildings to collapse and caused panic in the main station, explaining that the train was moving out of the maintenance workshop, entered quickly and crashed into a building in the rail station; which led to the ignition of the train.
