39 Al-Faisaly football team fans released in Egypt’s Alexandria

Alexandria police arrested released 39 fans of Jordan’s Al-Faisaly football team on Monday, who were arrested Sunday for riots that followed the defeat of Faisaly against the Tunisian football team Al-Taragy, three to two, in the final match of the Arab League.

The rioters were escorted to Bab Sharq police station in Alexandria where they were accused of destroying public property, assaulting security forces with empty bottles and stones and insulting them.

The Al-Faisaly fans’ riots resulted in minor injuries to some security forces. About nine seats were destroyed in the stadium, along with other damages that have yet to be estimated, according to Director of the Alexandria Stadium, Sherif Saad.

The Jordanian ambassador attended to the police station, following the arrest of the Jordanian fans, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.
