Five countries captured 31 percent of Egypt’s total exports to register $5.441 billion during the January-July 2019 period from $5.82 billion in 2018.
These countries include US, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Italy.
In July, Egypt’s exports to the five countries increased 33..1percent to record $717.802 million against $696.017 million during the same month in 2018, the state-run statics agency CAPMAS announced.
U.S ranked the first in terms of importing from Egypt to seize 6.5 percent of the Egyptian exports during the first 7 months of 2019 according to CAPMAS.
The most important Egyptian exports to the US market during the period “ January-July 2019 ” included garments and related unclassified accessories with a total value of 336.61 million dollars compared to 280.926 million dollars, a growth of 19.8%.
Egypt’s exports of glass to the United States rose to $ 18.333 million during the first seven months of this year, compared to $ 4.162 million a year earlier with a growth of 364.5 percent.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has came second accounting for 6.2 percent of Egypt’s total exports during the first seven months of this year with a value of $ 1.089 billion compared to $ 1.429 billion during the same period of 2018 declining by 23.8%.
The decline in Egyptian exports to the UAE was attributed to during the period from January-July 2019 to the decrease in exports of pearls, precious stones and jewellery to $ 686.672 million compared to $ 979.381 million, turning down by 29.9 percent, and machinery and electrical appliances by 24.6 percent to register $ 105.078 million against $ 139.428 million.
