650,000 homes to be gas-run in Egypt in two years – source

Egyptian Co. for Natural Gas Distribution in Cities – Town Gas plans to reach nearly 650,000 homes nationwide fully supplied with natural gas within 2019 and 2020, according to an official source.

The state-owned firm increases the natural gas delivery between 10 percent and 20 percent per year, the official further told Amwal Al Ghad on Tuesday.

“Around 285,000 housing units were supplied with gas in different areas last year,” he said, adding that the firm also seeks to raise natural gas delivery to 300,000 units this year.

Moreover, Egypt’s petroleum sector succeeded in boosting natural gas delivery production to more than 1.3 million units during 2018, the source said.

“Alexandria governorate captured the lion’s share of gas delivery to around 100,000 home client, while Cairo and Giza governorates delivered gas to nearly 90,000 homes this year,” he added.
