Around 80 million Americans will receive their coronavirus payments this week, and a “large majority” of eligible Americans will get them within the next two weeks, the U.S. Treasury Department announced on Monday.
The first payments, which started going out on Friday, will go for people who filed 2018 or 2019 tax returns and got their refunds by direct deposit.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the U.S. government agency under the Department of the Treasury, is set to have a new web portal up and running later this week, called “Get My Payment,” where citizens can check the status of their payment.
