Search interest for the word “recipe” has reached an all-time high in the U.S. and worldwide, according to Google Trends.
As people across the world are following stay at home orders to protect against coronavirus infection, they have hit the kitchen to pass the time, making cooking as their most popular hobby.
The top 10 google-searched for recipes include baked goods, like banana bread and brownies, Google Trends found.
Baking can bring comfort
Culinary art therapist Julie Ohana told CNBC Make It that baking recipes can “bring comfort” in times of uncertainty.
“When times are turned on its head we look for ways to cope,” Ohana added.
“Baking a loaf of bread, some cookies, etc. is so basic but fills such a void.”
