The eOman pavilion continues to attract a steady stream of visitors at GITEX Technology Week, which is currently being held at Dubai World Trade Centre in United Arab Emirates.
The Sultanate is also continuing its major contribution to the ongoing ITU’s World Conference on International Telecommunications (ITU Telecom World 2012), which is being organised for the first time in coincidence with GITEXevent.
A delegation from Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) headed by Dr Hamad bin Salim Al Rawahi, CEO, is marking its key presence in the conference.
Dr Al Rawahi affirmed the keenness of TRA to partake in regional and international forums relatedto ICT in order to keep an eye on the enormous developments trending in this dynamic sector.
“The ITU Telecom World 2012 represents an international platform that brings together key stakeholders from across the entire industry to discuss, interact, and share knowledge and experience on various themes related to the ICT sector. A major focus of the conferenceis the frequency spectrum aspects in addition to the broadband delivery, and challenges and obstacles facing the telecommunications sector worldwide,” Dr Al Rawahi noted.
He added, “The Sultanate is working together with brotherly countries to take advantage of the evolution taking place in the ICT arena through the exchange of views and experiences, and through forming agreements unifying regulations and laws regulating the services provided by the telecommunications companies in a way to provide flexible and quality options to all users at both local and international scale.”
At the ITU Telecom World 2012, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority presents a range of visualisations and proposals on the challenges facing the frequency spectrum management, among other related themes.
With three local companies partaking in GITEX under the umbrella of Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), namely: Oman Data Park, Infocomm and Iton; KOM aspires to showcase its achievements in the ICT field and the government’s determination to advance Oman as a leading digital nation.
Ali bin Sultan al Hashmi of Oman Data Park said, “Through this major participation at GITEX Technology Week, we endeavor to present Oman Data Park as the first colocation service provider in Oman and showcase the potency of Oman’s private sector in providing outstanding services. Our participation at this pivotal arena shall introduce Oman Data Park regionally, create awareness on our products’ portfolio, attract business and extend the business relationship with relevant companies participating in GITEX.”
