Twitter and Tesla owner, Elon Musk, is planning to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) startup, according to the Financial Times published on Friday the new startup is set to rival ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.
Musk is putting together a team of AI researchers and engineers while being in discussions with a number of investors in SpaceX and Tesla Inc. for investment in his new venture.
“It’s real and they are excited about it,” a source familiar with the matter told the Financial Times.
Various companies are working on incorporating Generative AI technologies including companies like Microsoft Corp. and Alphabet Inc.
According to Reuters, Musk registered a firm with the name X.AI Corp. last months which is incorporated in Nevada. According to a state filing cited by Reuters, the firm list Musk as the director and Jared Birchall as a secretary.
However, it is not yet clear whether this firm is related to Musk’s reported AI startup. It is worth mentioning that Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015, but stepped down from the firm in 2018.
