UN to commemorate Palestinians’ Nakba exodus

The United Nations will officially commemorate the Nakba on the 75th anniversary of Palestinians’ displacement.

The UN portioned Palestinian lands in 1947 and around 750 thousand Palestinians were expelled from their homes following the end of the British mandate.

Systematically working on removing the Palestinian population, Zionist militias destroyed more than 400 cities and towns.

“It’s acknowledging the responsibility of the U.N. of not being able to resolve this catastrophe for the Palestinian people for 75 years,” Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian U.N. ambassador commented on the commemoration.

The number of Palestinian refugees today is estimated to exceed seven million, promised the internationally-recognised, inalienable right of return. Mansour added that Palestinians are currently “being forcibly removed from their homes… at an unprecedented rate,” reminiscent of 1948.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is headlining Monday’s U.N. commemoration. The precedent of commemoration comes at a time where a cease fire in Gaza district has been into effect. Besides, opposition to Netanyahu’s judicial overhaul has been growing wider.
